Dr. Bonnette is a native of South Carolina, and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Bonnette did his Neurology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt University and Massachusetts General Hospital. Following his residency, he did a fellowship in Cerebral Vascular Disease at Harvard University.
Since 1987, Dr. Bonnette has been Medical Director of the 60-bed Rehabilitation Center at Lee Memorial Hospital. He is the Medical Director for Southwest Florida Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Noninvasive Vascular Laboratory at Southwest Regional Medical Center as well as the consulting Neurologist at Gulf Coast Center.
Dr. Bonnette is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Psychiatry, Neurology and Electroencephalography. He holds membership in several professional organizations including the Lee County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association, American Association of Electromyelography and Electrodiagnosis, American Academy of Neurology, American academy of Thermology, International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Management and Neurorehabilitation.
Dr. Bonnette is a former medical staff president at both Lee Memorial and Cape Coral Hospitals. He is a member of the survey team for the Certified Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities and a member of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation.
